Congratulations to GB Women's Hockey team

Written by sue owen on 20 August 2012.

5 Counties Women's Hockey League wish to congratulate Great Britain's women on their fantastic achievement winning the Bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics. Hopefully this will inspire more girls to take up the sport and more women to return to the game through Club Hockey.

Olympic Legacy

5 Counties are looking to create an extra division this season to allow Clubs to enter an extra team where they find themselves with an influx of players from the Olympic legacy. The fixture format wont be finalised until the start of the season but its expected that it would be more of a development division where some of the rules will be relaxed to enable Clubs to fulfil fixtures. Some Clubs have already indicated that they would be interested in entering another team so hopefully there will be enough to make it worthwhile. Watch this space
